Forked uses Apple sign-in and Supabase to store your account, profile, cooks, photos and social actions. Apple may provide a private relay email address. Your email and sign-in credentials are not displayed on your profile.
What you share
Public cooks and their photos can be viewed through shared web links. Only me cooks and your recipe box are private to your account. Unfinished drafts are saved on your device and are not published until you post them. If you choose recipe import or formatting, the submitted link or recipe text is processed online as described below. Profile details you choose to add are visible to other signed-in cooks. Blocking limits access between signed-in accounts; public web links remain public.
Recipe challenges store the recipe, deadline and membership. Members can see participant names and qualifying public cooks. Anyone with a forwarded invitation code can join while a challenge is open and has space.
On your device
Cookbook photo recognition and automated writing checks run on your device. Photo screening depends on available system support and settings; it does not replace human reporting or guarantee safe content. Recipe links fetch the publisher's page. Discover includes original Forked Kitchen recipe text and illustrative photographs from Wikimedia Commons, with source and license credits. Photographs load from Wikimedia servers. Photos and videos you choose to post are uploaded; cookbook scan images are used for recognition and are not attached as meal photos. Video posts are screened through an on-device poster frame, not every frame or spoken audio.
Recipe import and dictation
When you choose formatting, typed, pasted, recognized or dictated recipe text is sent through Cloudflare to OpenAI to organize an editable recipe. Native microphone audio stays on your device. Public video links you submit are sent to Cloudflare, where available post captions/subtitles are read first. Video/audio is downloaded temporarily when those texts are missing or insufficient, for transcription and on-screen text recognition; recovered text is sent to OpenAI to prepare editable recipe details. Automatic source-video photo selection is disabled. Raw temporary media is deleted after the attempt. Processing job input, recovered text and results are retained privately on Cloudflare for up to seven days so imports can continue after you leave and be retrieved when you return. Imports are not published automatically. You can add your own dish photo to the draft before posting. We request OpenAI responses with storage disabled; provider security and abuse-monitoring retention may still apply. Request limits and operational records help control service use. Review source text, quantities and uncertainties before adding a recipe.
Demo cooks
Maya, Leo and Priya are fictional automated demo cooks, with AI-generated profile pictures and illustrative Unsplash food photos. Their bios identify them as fictional automated accounts. Photo credits and detailed disclosures are in Settings → About Forked, Developer settings and our About page. They do not generate applause, comments or follows.
Service operation
Supabase and Cloudflare process requests and operational logs, including network information, to run the service. Forked does not include advertising or third-party behavioral analytics. We do not sell your personal data.
Control and deletion
You can edit or remove your posts, export your journal, sign out or delete your account in Settings. Account deletion removes active account data and uploaded media; provider backups and security logs follow their retention processes. Copies already saved or shared by others may remain.
